SWE National has an Outreach Metric Tool and as of March 2016, SWE members conducted about 647 outreach events to elementary or high school students, parents or teachers. When you enter your outreach and education related actions, our section is A003. That means your actions get credited to our section.

SWE SVS sponsors STEM activities in the Classroom
The Society of Women Engineers Sacramento Valley Section would like to provide funding for a STEM based project in your classroom!
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders.
We would especially like you to encourage your female students to be active participants in the project, and to recognize other women engineers or STEM leaders in their community. Therefore, we offer funding for your STEM related classroom projects.
Awards: $200-500 per application per school year
(If you are interested in having multiple teachers/classes participate, note it in your application)
If you can get your application in by 16 March, we should be able to provide the award by 1 April.

- Sacramento Valley Area (i.e. Sutter, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Yolo, Solano, and Contra Costa counties)
- Description of experiment with list of materials (and costs)
- Total cost of experiment/activity
- After use of award, "Proof" of experiment to be used by SWE SVS social media (i.e. pictures/video of final projects AND 1 or 2 paragraphs describing the activity so that it could potentially be used by other teachers/groups)

Seeking judges, mentors, speakers for STEM students
The School of Engineering & Science is looking for industry partners to connect with students in a variety of ways from judging science fairs, mentoring student projects and speaking to classes. The mission of the School of Engineering & Science is to provide open access to a rigorous academic and technical course sequence for Grades 7 through 12. High levels of learning for all students with the ultimate goal of increasing the diversity of the science and engineering workforce living and working in the Sacramento area. Roseville Joint Union High School District is looking for opportunities for high school girls to intern in STEM fields. They are approved by the State of California Department of Education for both unpaid and paid internships and currently partner with The City of Roseville and several private firms.
